Our Siding Process

Step 1

Old Siding Removal

Typically, the initial phase of any siding endeavor involves stripping away the existing siding. This process is executed with precision to avoid damaging the underlying sheathing by meticulously removing each nail. The duration for this task can vary, ranging from 2 to 7 days, depending on the siding material; vinyl and cedar are generally quicker to remove, whereas materials like stucco and stone require more time.

Step 2

Sheathing Inspection and Repair

After the old siding and nails are removed, our next step is to examine the sheathing for any signs of rot or damage. Our experience has shown that sheathing repairs are infrequently needed. However, if we do find damage, we promptly carry out the necessary repairs to ensure the integrity of your home's exterior.

Step 3

Preparation of the Wall for Siding

Following a thorough assessment and any requisite repairs to the sheathing, we move on to installing the rainscreen. This layer, consisting of building paper, flashings, and strapping/mesh, is vital for certain siding materials. While not always mandatory, we advocate for the use of strapping to enhance your siding's longevity by 5-10 years.

Step 4

Siding Installation and Touch-up Work

The complexity of the siding installation varies with the chosen material and design, typically requiring 7 to 10 days to complete. Additional elements like trim boards, soffits, fascia boards, and decorative features may extend this timeline. Our team also ensures the installation of bug screens, flashings, new dryer vents, and sealing gaps with caulking. We apply touch-up paint on exposed nail heads to match your siding for a polished appearance.

Step 5

Cleaning Up and Waste Removal

After the installation is complete, our Operations Manager conducts a detailed inspection to confirm every aspect of the project meets our high standards, addressing any deficiencies. We then clear your property of any remaining materials and debris. A recycling bin for waste is provided from the start to maintain cleanliness throughout the project.
